Job details
Our internship program aims to support the development of high potential individuals through an engaging learning experience at a global investment management firm. We will provide you with a project-focused internship where you can learn the latest technologies and industry best practices from technical experts. We believe that technology is critical to our success as a firm and provides us with a competitive advantage by building our own systems instead of acquiring from third parties. This opportunity is a competitively paid, four-month internship/co-op with the option to extend at the discretion of Orbis and the student. Why Orbis? Culture. We are committed to our Core Values. We encourage intellectual curiosity and individualism as well as collaboration across different areas of the business. We seek to hear our people’s voices – whether quiet or loud. Sharing ideas and challenging the status quo are commonplace. Autonomy. While guidance and support are provided, team members own their work and projects. Growth opportunities. We support our people in continuous learning and development. Agile environment. We are committed to providing our people with a work environment that balances their personal needs, commitments, and interests with the needs of their team and the needs of our clients. Philanthropy. Our people can contribute to society in a unique and personal way, through various philanthropy opportunities and programmes. What will your responsibilities be? You will receive one-on-one mentorship to perform your key responsibilities and support your experience. Additionally, you will be using the same technologies that our developers use, working on a meaningful software engineering project guided through interactions with various stakeholders. Specific projects vary depending on business requirements, however, as an intern you can expect to: Build internal platforms using technologies such as .NET, ASP.NET, SQL, AWS, Kubernetes, Angular, React and more (*project dependent) Develop algorithms and models to transform raw data into valuable information Design, code, test and deploy new system features using industry standard practices and tooling Your qualifications & experience We hire people with potential – we are looking for self-starters who are excited to learn new skills and experience new technologies during this internship. People who excel in this internship typically have: Undergraduate student or recent graduate with a proven track record of academic achievement and continuous improvement Demonstrated experience in software development outside of coursework Strong communication skills with an interest in leveraging this to work with stakeholders to understand and solve business problems using technology No previous knowledge of finance required Instructions for application To complete your application, please submit your resume and transcripts (all post-secondary to this point; unofficial are accepted). If any of the documents are missing from your application, we might not be able to consider it. What we offer The base salary for this position will be $6,000 per month.
