Job summary
Maintenance Manager - Operations Location: Winnipeg Status: Full Time, on site. Reports to: Plant Manager The Maintenance Manager – Mechanical Operations ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient performance of all production, packaging, and facility equipment. This hands-on leadership role combines team management with direct mechanical work to maximize equipment uptime, reduce downtime, and support production targets. Ideal candidates bring extensive mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting experience, along with the ability to lead a maintenance team while actively contributing on the floor. Key Responsibilities: • Lead maintenance operations to maximize equipment reliability, uptime, and overall line performance. • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC issues. • Develop and drive preventive & predictive maintenance programs to reduce unplanned downtime. •Oversee installation, commissioning, and optimization of new or upgraded production equipment. •Conduct root cause analysis for recurring failures and implement long term corrective actions. • Ensure all work meets safety, LOTO, and regulatory (HACCP/WH&S) requirements •Manage maintenance budgets, optimize spare parts inventory, and identify cost saving opportunities. •Monitor and improve maintenance KPIs including downtime, PM compliance, and equipment reliability. •Lead, coach, and develop maintenance supervisors and technicians; provide hands-on support during complex repairs. •Collaborate with Production and Quality teams to improve OEE and overall line efficiency. •Maintain building systems including utilities, HVAC, compressed air, and electrical infrastructure. Desired Qualifications: •Licensed journeyman, Industrial Millwright certification, or engineering (or equivalent experience). • 5–10 years of maintenance leadership experience in manufacturing environments. •Strong technical knowledge of automated processing/packaging equipment and reliability systems. •Proven success improving uptime and implementing preventive/predictive maintenance strategies. • Skilled in CMMS use, data-driven decision making, and budget management. • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in fast paced, high pressure operations. • Supports apprenticeship programs and ongoing technical training.
