Plant Maintenance Technician

Strescon Limited is currently seeking a motivated Plant Maintenance Technician to join our team at our precast concrete facility in Bedford, Nova Scotia. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled trades professional who enjoys hands-on work in a dynamic industrial environment. What You’ll Do: As a Plant Maintenance Technician, you will play a key role in keeping our plant operating safely, efficiently, and reliably. Your responsibilities will include: * Perform electrical and mechanical maintenance on plant equipment and systems * Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC systems * Work collaboratively with third party maintenance contractors * Complete equipment inspections and follow preventative maintenance schedules * Maintain accurate documentation of all work performed * Support plant upgrades, improvements, and special projects * Perform additional duties as required to support daily operations * Maintain and repair mixers, batch plant equipment, conveyors, hydraulic systems, and motors * Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment and required infrastructure * Help manage spare‑parts inventory and keep the maintenance shop/tools organized * Perform minor facility repairs (e.g., structural, plumbing, basic electrical) as needed What You Bring: Technical Skills & Experience * 1–5 years' experience in a heavy industrial environment * Experience working on overhead cranes is an asset * Strong electrical background with PLC troubleshooting experience * Ability to read parts diagrams, equipment manuals and schematics * Provincial certification as an industrial or construction electrician would be considered an asset * Journeyman Industrial Mechanic/Millwright or equivalent work experience is preferred * Hands on experience with hydraulics and pneumatics * Welding tickets / experience welding would also be considered an asset Professional & Physical Requirements * Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills * Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing * Comfortable performing physically demanding work (heavy lifting, working at heights, dusty environments, etc.) * Flexibility to work shift schedules and overtime as required * Reliable transportation to and from work What We Offer: * Competitive starting wage: $24.70-$27.76 per hour * Comprehensive health and dental benefits * Life insurance coverage * RRSP and Tax-Free Savings Account options * Educational bursaries for dependents * Health and wellness programs * Company events, employee celebrations, and sports team sponsorships At Strescon, we value our people and invest in their success. Its primary market covers the Atlantic Provinces and the New England region of the United States. Strescon manufactures a wide range of both architectural and structural precast/prestressed concrete products including bridge girders, wall panels, complete parking garages, hollow-core planking, piling and deck slabs. Strescon presently has two facilities: 70,000 sq ft. in Saint John, New Brunswick and 50,000 sq. ft. in Bedford, Nova Scotia. In addition to our engineered precast facilities for custom components, Strescon also operates a 32,000 sq. ft. facility in Saint John which manufactures standard concrete products for engineered drainage systems, such as pipe, manholes and catch basins.

The technician is responsible for performing electrical and mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting PLC, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to ensure plant reliability. They also manage preventative maintenance schedules, support plant upgrades, and maintain equipment like mixers and conveyors.

Candidates should have 1-5 years of heavy industrial experience and a strong background in electrical troubleshooting and PLC systems. Professional certifications as an industrial electrician or journeyman millwright are preferred assets.
