Job details

Who We Are: Outliers Mining Solutions is a global mining consulting and technology organization focused on helping mining operations achieve sustainable improvements in safety, productivity, cost, and operational performance. We are mining people first. Our approach combines operational experience, management operating systems, technology, coaching, and practical execution. We work alongside our clients and their people to create improvements that can be sustained long after we leave site. As Outliers continues to grow globally, we are looking for an experienced and practical HR Manager who can help us build the people systems required for our next stage of growth without losing the culture, agility, and accountability that have made Outliers successful. About This Role: The HR Manager will report to the VP of Operations – North America and will serve as the lead HR resource supporting North America while helping coordinate and strengthen HR practices across our global regions. This is not a role for someone who simply wants to administer established HR programs. We are looking for someone who can look at what exists today, determine what is working, identify what needs to change, and help build practical HR processes that are right-sized for Outliers. The successful candidate will work closely with operational leadership and regional HR resources to strengthen existing systems, introduce new processes where required, and establish greater consistency across the organization as we continue to scale. Each region will maintain its own HR employee or contracted HR support. The HR Manager will help provide the framework, standards, tools, and leadership necessary to ensure our HR practices remain aligned globally while still recognizing regional requirements. Key Responsibilities: Review and strengthen existing HR processes, policies, systems, and documentation. Identify HR gaps and develop practical solutions appropriate for a growing global organization. Lead the development and continuous improvement of HR systems that support Outliers as it grows and scales. Work with regional leaders and HR resources to establish appropriate global consistency while respecting local employment requirements and regional needs. Support recruitment, onboarding, employee development, performance management, retention, promotion, succession planning, and offboarding processes. Help strengthen our existing people processes, including regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, development planning, career discussions, and succession planning. Support leaders in managing employee relations, performance concerns, development opportunities, and difficult people decisions. Develop and maintain practical HR policies, procedures, templates, tools, and supporting documentation. Help establish meaningful people metrics and reporting that allow leadership to understand organizational health, capability, retention, development, and workforce requirements. Partner with leadership on workforce planning as the organization grows. Ensure HR practices support Outliers' culture, operating fundamentals, and expectations for accountability. Coordinate with external HR, legal, payroll, benefits, and other professional resources where required. Review HR practices across regions, share lessons learned, and help regional resources adopt proven approaches. Support organizational change and communication as Outliers continues to evolve. Maintain appropriate confidentiality and professional judgment when dealing with sensitive employee and business matters Review and strengthen existing HR processes, policies, systems, and documentation. The right person will be comfortable operating in an organization that is growing quickly and where not every process has already been built. You should be able to recognize the difference between a process that adds value and one that simply adds administration. Ideally, you will bring: Progressive HR experience, preferably within a growing, multi-region organization. Experience building or improving HR systems rather than simply administering established ones. Strong knowledge of recruitment, performance management, employee development, employee relations, workforce planning, compensation, and HR policy. Experience working across multiple jurisdictions or with regional HR resources. Strong coaching and influencing skills when working with senior leaders and managers. Excellent judgment, discretion, and ability to handle confidential matters. Strong organizational and communication skills. A practical, solutions-focused mindset. The ability to work independently in a remote environment while remaining highly connected to the business. Experience within mining, consulting, engineering, professional services, or another operational environment would be considered an asset. What Success Looks Like Success in this role means that Outliers develops stronger and more consistent people practices without becoming unnecessarily bureaucratic. Our HR systems should help our people perform, develop, understand expectations, build careers, and see opportunities within Outliers. They should also give our leaders the information and tools they need to make good people decisions. Most importantly, the systems we build must work in the real world. Compensation & Employment Conditions Outliers Mining Solutions offers a competitive compensation package designed to support the long-term success and well-being of our team members. Salary Range: $110,000-$140,000 CAD Employment Type: Full-time, permanent position Travel: Some travel will be required to support leadership meetings, regional teams, company events, and other business requirements Benefits: Comprehensive health and benefits package Vacation: 4 weeks paid vacation Start Date: TBD Why Work for Outliers? With our innovative operating model, you can achieve your career aspirations while enjoying the freedom of working from home. Outliers is continuing to grow, and this role provides an opportunity to help shape how we manage and develop our people as we enter the next stage of that growth. You won't simply inherit an HR system. You'll help build what comes next. While our work-from-home model offers flexibility, only applicants in Canada and the United States will be considered for this role.
