Job summary
Location: Remote Duration: Part Time (2 years) Responsibilities Maintain, enhance, and sustain a bilingual mobile application for iOS and Android. Perform corrective maintenance, including bug fixes, operating system compatibility updates, and library and dependency updates. Design and implement new features, functionality, and UI/UX improvements based on requirements analysis. Assess the existing application architecture and recommend whether to maintain, modernize, or migrate to a supported framework or architecture. Prepare iOS and Android builds and maintain build and deployment pipelines. Prepare and submit App Store and Google Play releases, address store review feedback, and maintain version control. Apply secure coding practices, conduct vulnerability assessments, and remediate security and privacy findings. Ensure accessibility compliance and maintain bilingual content throughout the application. Monitor application crashes and performance, and provide troubleshooting, defect resolution, and incident response. Prepare and maintain technical documentation, release notes, deployment instructions, and knowledge-transfer materials. Collaborate with stakeholders, participate in technical meetings, and provide regular progress and status reporting. Provide full transition and handover at contract end, including source code, documentation, and knowledge transfer. Qualifications 5+ years of professional software development experience spanning the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of software applications, demonstrated across at least two projects. 3+ years of experience developing and maintaining mobile applications for iOS and/or Android, including updating applications for new operating system releases, implementing new features, resolving defects and performance issues, and packaging and publishing builds to the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. 2+ years of experience integrating software components using Mobile SDKs, REST APIs, and third-party libraries, frameworks, or cloud services. Experience preparing mobile application builds, submitting releases to the Apple App Store and/or Google Play Store, addressing store review feedback, and configuring or maintaining CI/CD deployment pipelines. 2+ years of experience applying secure coding practices, such as secure data storage, encryption and key management, authentication and access control, vulnerability remediation, and privacy compliance including privacy-by-design principles or Privacy Impact Assessments. 2+ years of experience authoring and maintaining technical documentation, such as architecture diagrams, technical specifications, API documentation, release notes, and deployment or operational guides. Experience using version control systems such as Git, Azure DevOps, GitHub, Bitbucket, or GitLab. 10+ years of general IT experience across software development, systems analysis, testing, and application maintenance and support. Experience developing and maintaining offline-first mobile applications that rely on local data storage and operate with limited or intermittent connectivity, including synchronization, conflict handling, and data recovery. Experience with JavaScript-based and hybrid mobile frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue, Cordova, Ionic, or Capacitor, including maintenance, dependency upgrades, refactoring, and framework migration. A valid professional certification relevant to mobile or software development, such as Apple App Development with Swift, Google Associate Android Developer, Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate, or AWS Certified Developer. Education: Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
