Job summary
On-Call Transit Assistant Cold Lake Bus Lines offers and opportunity that is always exciting and varied day to day. The On-Call Transit Assistant role is a hands-on position that requires a strong knowledge of the transportation industry and the area surrounding Cold Lake. This role involves radio monitoring of the Transit System during specified hours. * Monday to Friday: 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm (20 working hours during weekdays) * Saturday: 6:00 am - 6:00 pm (hours subject to change, compensated for actual hours worked) Principal Duties and Responsibilities: * Monitor Transit operations in evenings and Saturdays and escalate any concerns immediately to the Transit Supervisor and Operations Manager * Assist the Transit Supervisor in delegating responsibilities to Transit Operators; scheduling monthly hours * Assis the Transit Supervisor in ensuring the routes are covered in an efficient and fair manner * Ensure that drivers and staff are treated in a fair and consistent manner using the guidelines and rules set down in the Driver’s Handbook * Meet monthly with the Transit Drivers to discuss issues * Assist in answering public and driver inquiries and finding solutions to concerns * Inform Training & Development of open routes and monitor progression of new trainees * Liaise with customer * Respond to potential on call situations in transit unit movement or covering transit routes and support other operation needs where needed Requirements: * Hold a Class 2Q driver’s license for insurance purposes * Previous Transit experience * Transportation industry experience considered a definite asset * Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally while exhibiting confidentiality and diplomacy * HOS and auditing experience considered and asset * Expertise in organizational planning and problem-solving * Knowledge of WCB and Occupational Health and Safety regulations * Computer proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word an Outlook * Team player

Requirements
