Job summary

Role Description The Analytical Scientist – Mass Spectrometry / Scientiste analytique – Spectrométrie de masse is responsible for developing, validating, and performing analytical methods using mass spectrometry to support food safety testing. This full-time, on-site role in Dorval, QC involves planning and conducting laboratory experiments, preparing samples, operating and maintaining analytical instruments, and interpreting and documenting results in accordance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements. The position includes optimizing workflows for sensitivity, specificity, and throughput, troubleshooting analytical challenges, and collaborating with cross-functional colleagues to ensure accurate and timely delivery of test results. The scientist also contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, adheres to quality systems such as GMP, and supports method transfer, training, and technical reporting. Qualifications Strong foundation in Analytical Methods Development and Method Development for mass spectrometry-based assays. Demonstrated Analytical Skills, including data interpretation, problem-solving, and validation of analytical results. Robust Laboratory Skills, including sample preparation, instrument operation, calibration, and routine maintenance. Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and adherence to quality and regulatory standards in a laboratory environment. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Science, or a related discipline; experience with food or environmental testing is an asset. Experience with LC-MS/MS, GC-MS/MS or other advanced mass spectrometry platforms, including associated software for data acquisition and analysis. Ability to document work clearly, follow SOPs, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work safely in a fast-paced, on-site laboratory setting.
