NUTRITION COORDINATOR START DATE: September 08, 2026 END DATE: June 30, 2027 or the last day students are in class Position Title: Nutrition Coordinator Reports To: School Principal / Vice-Principal Union Status: Out of Scope Hours: 15 hours a week Salary: $25 per hour Language Requirement: English Job Description Reviewed: April 2024 Purpose of Position The Nutrition Coordinator will play a crucial role in overseeing the nutrition needs of the students in the designated school. They will be responsible for the organization and maintenance of the nutrition program which will include ordering, delivering, preparing, and providing assistance and encouragement to promote students to eat healthy within the particular school. Key Responsibilities Duties may vary based on location. Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Develops and implements weekly/monthly meal plans that adhere to nutrition guidelines and caters to the dietary needs of the student population. Prepares and serves nutritious snacks and/or meals, ensuring quality and hygiene standards are always maintained. Organizes, cleans and maintains the kitchen area, keeping it clean, safe, and well-stocked with necessary cooking and serving utensils. Creates and manages a comprehensive inventory list of food and kitchen supplies, ensuring timely replenishment when necessary. Prepares and manages grocery lists, making sure all required items are procured for the snack and/or meal preparations. Responsible for adhering to the health and safety procedures. Ensures food purchases are cost effective and respects the budget allocation. May be required to assign and direct the work of others. Performs other duties as may be assigned to support the efficient operation of the Nutrition Program. Skills And Qualifications Skill and Knowledge – Required: Grade 12 education or GED or equivalent combination of skills and experience. Food Handler Certification or willing to obtain. Strong organizational skills to effectively plan and execute snack and/or meal preparations for a considerable number of students. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to interact with students and staff. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment, ensuring smooth and efficient kitchen operation. Skill And Knowledge – Desired Previous experience in food service, kitchen management, or nutrition-related roles. Experience in a large urban school division. Conditions of Employment Police Information Check (Criminal Record Check) Child Abuse Registry Check Completion of Commit to Kids or Respect in Schools training Completion of New Employee Safety Orientation Working Conditions & Physical Demands May require long periods of standing. May require early start times depending on the nutrition program offered at the school location.
