As construction progresses, options exist for regular travel or full transition to the project site or Hybrid role. Travel will be provided from your point of residence. About the Opportunity Our client is seeking an experienced Electrical Infrastructure Construction Manager to join the owner's team during the development of a major new gold mining operation in British Columbia. This is an exceptional opportunity to lead the delivery of the electrical infrastructure that will power a new world-class mining operation. Working on behalf of the owner, you will oversee the engineering, construction and commissioning of the project's critical electrical systems, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently and in alignment with the overall mine development schedule. Initially focused on managing engineering consultants responsible for detailed design, the role will transition into owner-side construction leadership as execution activities ramp up. Candidates with previous experience delivering electrical infrastructure for greenfield mining projects, mine start-ups or other major industrial developments will be particularly well suited to this opportunity. This is a contract position expected to run for approximately 2 to 2½ years through construction and project completion. Key Responsibilities Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer/Site General Manager, you will provide owner-side leadership for the engineering, construction and delivery of the project's electrical infrastructure. Responsibilities include: Lead the planning, engineering and construction of the electrical infrastructure supporting a new gold mining operation. Direct and coordinate external engineering consultants responsible for the design of the high-voltage electrical systems. Oversee the delivery of major electrical infrastructure, including: High-voltage transmission lines Potential liaison with BC Hydro on interconnections Electrical substations Mine power distribution systems Medium- and high-voltage electrical networks Manage the transition from engineering and design into field construction and project execution. Ensure engineering deliverables, procurement activities and construction schedules align with the overall mine development plan. Coordinate closely with construction, operations, engineering and environmental teams to ensure successful project delivery. Monitor project progress, identify technical and execution risks, and implement mitigation strategies. Manage engineering consultants, construction contractors and equipment suppliers to ensure quality, schedule and cost objectives are achieved. Ensure all work is executed in accordance with applicable electrical codes, regulatory requirements and the highest Health, Safety and Environmental standards. Provide regular progress updates and strategic recommendations to executive leadership. Qualifications The ideal candidate will bring: 10+ years of experience delivering major electrical infrastructure projects within mining, utilities, heavy industrial or other capital project environments. Extensive experience managing the design and construction of: High-voltage transmission lines Electrical substations Industrial power distribution systems Utility-scale electrical infrastructure Previous experience supporting a greenfield or brownfield mine development or industrial project or mine start-up is considered a significant asset. Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering consultants and electrical construction contractors on behalf of an owner. Strong understanding of high-voltage electrical systems, construction methodologies and commissioning activities. Experience overseeing projects from engineering and design through construction, energization and operational readiness. Experience working with EPCM, PCM or owner-led project delivery environments during engineering and construction phases. Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) designation or equivalent electrical engineering background or relevant trade background would be considered a strong asset. Outstanding leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills. Demonstrated commitment to Health, Safety and Environmental excellence. Work Location & Schedule The role will initially be based in Vancouver, British Columbia, with regular travel to the project site during engineering and early construction activities. As construction progresses, the position will transition to a greater site presence. Options exist for regular travel or full transition to the project site or Hybrid role.
