Project Planner (Fractional / Contract) 📍 Nisku (Edmonton), AB | Hybrid / Mostly Remote 📄 Approx. 4-Month Contract (Potential Extension) About the Opportunity Phase Consulting is partnering with an engineering and fabrication client to identify an experienced Project Planner to support multiple concurrent modular equipment projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planner seeking a flexible, fractional consulting engagement. Following an initial onboarding period onsite, the role is expected to transition primarily to remote work, with periodic site visits to maintain project schedules and verify progress. About the Role The Project Planner will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and updating project schedules across multiple active projects while working closely with project management, production, and leadership teams. You'll play a key role in ensuring project progress is accurately tracked, reported, and communicated while supporting schedule recovery initiatives where required. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project Track project progress, productivity, and schedule performance Produce weekly schedule updates and progress reports Assist with schedule recovery planning and forecasting Coordinate with Project Managers, Production, and Operations teams Perform regular schedule updates based on field/shop progress Visit the fabrication shop periodically to validate progress and gather schedule updates Prepare management reports and schedule dashboards Identify schedule risks and recommend mitigation strategies Qualifications Previous experience as a Project Planner or Project Controls Planner Strong proficiency with Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project Experience supporting industrial, fabrication, oil & gas, energy, EPC, or modular equipment projects Strong understanding of project scheduling principles and critical path methodology Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills Comfortable working independently within a flexible consulting environment Preferred Experience Experience supporting projects in: Modular equipment fabrication Oil & Gas Industrial construction EPC/EPCM environments Manufacturing or heavy industrial facilities Work Arrangement Hybrid / Mostly Remote Initial onboarding period expected onsite (approximately 5–7 full working days) Weekly site visits to the Nisku facility anticipated following onboarding Remaining work performed remotely Contract Details Approximate duration: 4 months Fractional engagement (hours expected to vary throughout the project) Initial onboarding will require full-time availability for approximately one week before transitioning into ongoing part-time support. Commercial terms, hours, and compensation are currently being finalized with the client. Please note: This opportunity is best suited for candidates seeking a flexible consulting engagement or supplemental contract work. The exact weekly hours and schedule will be confirmed once the client finalizes project requirements.
