Job summary

[HIRING FROM CANADA AND USA] Plato builds high-fidelity simulation environments: fully interactive, working recreations of widely used web applications: e-commerce platforms, spreadsheets, design tools, project management software, and more. Organizations use these environments for training, testing, and evaluation, which means every simulation has to behave exactly like the real product. Our QA team is the final check that makes that true. About the role: If you're the kind of person who goes the extra mile and can take responsibility of a job, this role was built for you. You'll be the expert user who decides whether a simulation is a faithful recreation of the application it replicates, and your findings directly determine what improvements are made. Day to day, you will: Test simulations side-by-side against the real application, working through complete, realistic workflows in both and pinpointing where behavior diverges Go deep, not just wide: exercise multi-step flows end to end (create, edit, save, reload, verify), edge cases, and the cross-feature interactions where software most often breaks Write clear, reproducible defect reports: exact steps, expected vs. actual behavior, frontend, backend, in a way that a developer who has never seen the issue can act on without follow-up questions Classify issues by type and severity, separating genuine functional gaps from cosmetic differences and test-data quirks Re-test reported issues after each fix cycle, confirm resolutions, and catch regressions Run final release-readiness reviews and help build the checklists that define "ready to ship" What we're looking for A meticulous, systematic tester with the persistence to fully explore complex applications Strong written communication. Clear detailed defect reports are the core deliverable of this role The ability to get fluent in unfamiliar software quickly, whether it's an admin dashboard, a spreadsheet, or a support tool Sound judgment about what counts as a bug, how severe it is, and what's worth reporting Please include your methodology for how you'd debug a site and compare in a cover letter Nice to have Prior QA or software testing experience, including bug tracking or test case management tools Comfort with browser developer tools (console, network tab) Exposure to test automation Experience testing websites or simulations Post-secondary education in a technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience What we offer $40 - 60 CAD / hour Flexible, remote contract that may lead to more work and responsibility. A small, fast-moving and fast-growing team where your findings visibly shape the product week to week
