PLEA is an accredited*, not-for-profit, charitable community services agency that has operated throughout BC for more than 30 years. We deliver residential and non-residential services to children, youth, adults and families facing significant challenges in their lives. We continually adapt our programs to suit each individual’s diverse strengths, needs and circumstances. As a result, we have a strong reputation for helping those we serve overcome the challenges they face and lead fulfilling lives in their communities. Our origins are in youth justice where we were one of the first agencies to offer young people a community-based program as an alternative to custody. We have expanded on this original program and are recognized as one of the provincial leaders in non-custodial youth justice services. We have also designed, developed and delivered many other programs in keeping with our core mission. Our work now spans child welfare, addictions, health, justice and community living systems. Our focus ranges from preventative – helping children and youth at-risk make good choices under challenging circumstances – to intensive – providing specialized residential services to youth, and adults who are unable to live on their own. We have more than 160 employees, 150 family caregivers and 230 volunteers. We are known for creative program development, effective service delivery and strong community roots. The Adult Support Worker develops and implements service plans to support adults with complex needs in achieving their health, wellness, and quality of life goals. They provide direct community-based supervision, facilitate social activities, and maintain accurate documentation while collaborating with families and caregivers.

The Youth Care Worker provides direct care, emotional support, and life skills training to youth with behavioural challenges in a residential setting. They are responsible for ensuring youth safety, managing crises, and coordinating with families and external partners.

The Occupational Therapist will assess, plan, and implement individualized programs to improve clients' physical, mental, and vocational functioning. They will also provide direct therapy, support families, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care.

The Family Support Worker assesses participant needs related to neurodevelopmental concerns and develops intervention plans to provide support, guidance, and problem-solving. They also facilitate group educational sessions and collaborate with an integrated case management team to monitor participant progress.

The Youth Care Worker provides direct care and support to youth with behavioural challenges in a residential setting, ensuring their physical, emotional, and medical needs are met. They also facilitate daily routines, teach life skills, and manage crisis situations to ensure the safety and well-being of the youth.

The Clinical Counsellor assesses clients' social, psychological, emotional, and behavioural needs to develop and implement effective therapeutic interventions. They also collaborate with care teams, families, and caregivers to provide ongoing support, crisis intervention, and progress reporting.

The Community Support Worker will assist participants with daily life skills, social integration, and behaviour management while developing and implementing individualized service plans. They are also responsible for documenting progress, facilitating community activities, and ensuring the health and safety of clients.

The ISSP Worker provides intensive, one-to-one community supervision and support to youth at risk of re-offending to help them meet court-ordered conditions and personal goals. They plan and implement interventions, monitor compliance, and facilitate access to community resources to support the youth's integration and healthy development.
