We have an exciting opportunity at our Calgary beltline office to join the role of Settlement Coordinator. The Settlement Coordinator is responsible for assisting the lawyers in receiving settlement authority and ensuring settlements are paid out in a timely and accurate manner. Reporting to the partners your role will include but are not limited to the following: Main Tasks and Responsibilities: Preparing a list of disbursements Preparing a list of directions to pay Preparing a list of subrogated claims Preparing a settlement calculator that will allow the lawyer to seek a direction to settle from the client in writing, noting all amounts of disbursements, loans, directions to pay, and subrogated amounts Sending the direction to settle to the client once approved by the lawyer. Maintain records of financial transactions. A/P and disbursement processing, reconciliations, and cheque runs. Provide assistance to team members with respect to accounting related matters. Provide backup for the accountant, as required. Other clerical and administrative support duties as directed by management and/or accounting team. Experience and Qualifications: Undergraduate Degree or Diploma in Accounting preferred but not required. Legal Administrative Certificate an asset but not required. Personal Injury or similar legal experience is an asset. 2+ years of previous hands-on accounting or full cycle bookkeeping experience in a legal services environment is preferred. Strong interpersonal and team-oriented skills. Strong organizational skills with an eye for detail and ability to recognize and address problems as they arise. Experience with electronic billing. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook). Ability to work calmly under tight deadlines. Able to adapt and adjust with change and growth. Ability to deal with highly confidential material. Strong attention to detail and accuracy with numbers. We offer a friendly work environment, a competitive salary and a benefits package.
