Job Description: Student Financial Planner Location: CDI College - Calgary North Campus, Calgary, AB Compensation: $42,000 - $45,000 CAD / year Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Expected Start Date: April 27, 2026 (or immediate) Shift Timings: Tuesday to Friday: 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM MST Saturday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM MST Days Off: Sunday and Monday Purpose of the Role The Student Financial Planner acts as a crucial liaison between Admissions and Student Finance at the CDI Calgary North campus. In this role, you will empower students by guiding them through the financial planning process, helping them secure and manage funding for their education, and ensuring full compliance with provincial and federal regulations and institutional policies. Key Responsibilities 1. Financial Planning & Student Support Conduct comprehensive financial interviews to assess prospective and current students' income, expenses, and funding needs. Develop customized, realistic payment plans utilizing student loans, scholarships, grants, and personal funds. Provide compassionate financial counseling to help students make informed decisions regarding their educational investment. 2. Financial Aid Guidance Explain student loan application processes, eligibility criteria, and critical deadlines. Advise students on available financial aid options and their ongoing repayment obligations. Provide ongoing support with applications, general inquiries, and funding-related hurdles. 3. Application & Process Management Manage, track, and process financial aid applications and required documentation with high precision. Ensure absolute accuracy and completeness of all student files. Assist students with loan appeals, document resubmissions, and administrative processing. 4. Compliance & Policy Adherence Ensure strict adherence to provincial, federal, and institutional financial aid regulations. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving financial aid programs, criteria, and procedures. Support default management initiatives and work to minimize institutional bad debt. 5. Administrative & Student Experience Support Maintain accurate, secure, and confidential student financial records. Participate actively in campus orientations, financial workshops, and student exit interviews. Collaborate closely with Admissions, Academic, and Campus Administration teams to enhance the overall student experience and retention. Key Skills & Competencies Communication & Interpersonal: Strong, clear verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build rapport quickly. Empathy & Professionalism: Customer-focused mindset with deep empathy for students navigating financial stress. Organization: Excellent multitasking and time-management abilities to handle shifting priorities. Accuracy: High attention to detail with zero-tolerance for errors in financial documentation. Problem-Solving: Strong negotiation and analytical skills to resolve complex funding issues. Autonomy: Ability to work independently and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment. Technical Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and database management systems. Education & Experience Diploma or degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. 1+ years of professional experience in customer service, sales, banking, or financial services.
