Director of Operations –Clinical and Community Programs Reports to: Executive Director Status: Excluded Position Summary The Director of Operations provides strategic, operational and clinical leadership for the Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society's Rotary Hospice House, Home Hospice and Community Hospice Programs. As the senior clinical leader, the Director of Operations ensures the delivery of safe, evidence-informed, person- and family-centred hospice palliative care across the continuum of illness, caregiving, dying, death and bereavement. The position provides leadership to nursing, grief support, community programs and interdisciplinary teams while ensuring compliance with professional standards, accreditation requirements, licensing, legislation and organizational policies. General Accountabilities · Provide clinical leadership for Rotary Hospice House, Home Hospice, grief and bereavement services, caregiver support and community hospice programs. · Promote excellence in nursing practice, pain and symptom management, clinical decision-making and quality improvement. · Provide direct leadership, mentorship, supervision and performance management to the Nurse Lead, Grief Support Team and designated community program staff. · Ensure grief, caregiver and wellness programs are evidence-informed, trauma-informed, culturally safe and responsive to community needs. · Oversee clinical governance, risk management, documentation standards, audits, accreditation and licensing compliance. · Lead quality improvement initiatives using outcome measures and evaluation data. · Develop new hospice and community programs in partnership with community agencies, Northern Health, UNBC and provincial partners. · Support integration across Hospice House, Home Hospice and Community Programs to ensure seamless transitions for clients and families. · Participate in strategic planning, budget development, labour relations and organizational leadership. Community Hospice & Grief Leadership · Provide leadership and clinical oversight for grief and bereavement services for children, youth, adults and families. · Support staff delivering individual grief support, therapeutic groups, caregiver education, dementia initiatives and volunteer-led programs. · Ensure appropriate intake, assessment, documentation, referral pathways and evaluation processes are maintained. · Develop and evaluate innovative programs addressing grief, serious illness, caregiving and compassionate communities. · Collaborate with volunteers and community partners to strengthen access to hospice services. Clinical Leadership Responsibilities · Provide consultation for complex hospice and palliative care situations. · Monitor quality indicators, incident reviews, medication safety and clinical audits. · Ensure staff competencies, orientation, education and ongoing professional development. · Work collaboratively with the Medical Director, physicians, nurse practitioners and interdisciplinary partners. · Ensure practice aligns with HPCO Standards, BC Centre for Palliative Care guidance and BCCNM standards. Education & Experience · Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) with BCCNM. · Bachelor of Science in Nursing required; Master's degree preferred. · Minimum seven years progressive leadership experience in hospice palliative care, community health, home health, oncology, geriatrics or related field. · Demonstrated experience leading interdisciplinary teams and community-based programs. · Experience in grief, bereavement, caregiver support and volunteer services is a significant asset. The Director of Operations provides strategic and clinical leadership for hospice palliative care across house, home, and community programs. This includes overseeing clinical governance, managing interdisciplinary teams, and developing evidence-informed grief and caregiver support services.

Candidates must be a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and at least seven years of progressive leadership experience in palliative or community health. A Master's degree and experience in bereavement or volunteer services are preferred assets.
