Progressive Legal Solutions (PLS) is growing, and we are looking for a motivated Family Law Associate Lawyer who wants to build a long-term career with a dynamic, litigation-focused team. This opportunity is for a lawyer who is passionate about family law, confident taking responsibility for files, and eager to develop their advocacy skills through substantial exposure to complex litigation and courtroom proceedings. About Progressive Legal Solutions PLS is a growing Ontario law firm with a dedicated family law practice and offices in North York and Barrie. Our practice covers a broad range of family law matters, with a particular focus on high-conflict litigation, high-income and high-net-worth financial disputes, complex property division, parenting disputes, support claims, and contested court proceedings. We combine experienced legal counsel, collaborative case strategy, dedicated support staff, and modern technology to provide effective representation to our clients. We believe successful lawyers need more than interesting files. They need the right team, mentorship, resources, and environment to perform at their best. Why Join PLS? Challenging, meaningful litigation: Work on complex family law matters involving significant assets, business ownership, financial disputes, high-conflict parenting issues, and contested proceedings. Substantial courtroom exposure: Develop your advocacy through conferences, motions, hearings, and trials, with opportunities to take increasing responsibility. Mentorship from experienced counsel: Work alongside established family law litigators, benefiting from practical guidance, strategic discussions, and shared litigation experience. Dedicated family law focus: Build deeper expertise through exposure to a wide variety of family law matters rather than dividing your attention across unrelated practice areas. Strong support structure: Work with experienced law clerks, legal assistants, and a management team focused on helping lawyers succeed. Long-term career growth: Join an expanding firm where initiative, strong performance, and professional development are recognized and valued. Your Role Take carriage of family law files appropriate to your experience, from initial consultation through negotiation, litigation, and resolution. Represent clients at case conferences, settlement conferences, motions, hearings, and trials. Develop practical litigation strategies in collaboration with senior counsel. Draft pleadings, affidavits, motion materials, briefs, settlement proposals, and domestic contracts. Manage complex financial disclosure, property division, child and spousal support, and parenting matters. Negotiate with opposing counsel and pursue effective resolutions while remaining prepared for litigation. Work closely with law clerks and legal assistants to manage deadlines, court materials, and client communication. Maintain professional client relationships, accurate time records, and efficient file management. What We're Looking For Licensed lawyer in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario. Minimum 3 years of family law practice experience, including meaningful litigation experience. Experience independently managing family law matters and appearing in Ontario courts. Strong legal drafting, advocacy, negotiation, and analytical skills. Sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities. Confidence handling challenging clients and emotionally complex disputes with professionalism. A collaborative mindset, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn from experienced colleagues. Motivation to take ownership of your work and build a lasting career in family law litigation. Experience with high-net-worth disputes, complex financial disclosure, or trials is a strong asset. Compensation and Benefits Proposed base salary of $110,000–$160,000+, depending on experience and capabilities. Performance-based bonus opportunities. Hybrid work arrangement. Extended health, dental, vision, and life insurance benefits. Paid time off. Modern office and technology-enabled practice. Experienced legal and administrative support.
