We are currently seeking a Custodian to make sure that all types of office buildings, fabrication shops, and warehouses are neat, clean, free from clutter and safe. Key Responsibilities: * Report on time and fit for duty * Participate in daily toolbox meetings * Clean and disinfect common areas: * Printer rooms * Conference rooms * Washroom * Change/locker rooms * Kitchen/coffee areas * Vending machine * Staircases * Electronic items * Carry out heavy cleaning tasks and special projects * disinfect high touch surfaces on a set schedule * Under direct supervision, may be required to operate basic hand and power tools. * Clean work areas and equipment. * Perform other laboring and basic activities. * Use cleaning supplies and equipment to keep the interior of the office building looking clean and professional * Adhere to the company’s safety policies to create a safe work environment for everyone * Perform routing cleaning tasks based on a schedule created by the facility management team * Ensure spaces are prepared for the next day by taking out trash, tidying furniture and dusting surfaces * Sweep and mop floors and vacuum carpets * Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks and showers and restock disposables (e.g. soap) * Wipe mirrors and windows * Maintain outer premises by watering plants, mowing lawn, cleaning entrances * Perform maintenance and minor repairs (fixing door handles, minor leaks etc.) * Report major damages * Secure facilities after operating hours by locking doors, closing windows and setting up the alarm * Undertake custodial and janitorial tasks (shoveling snow from the sidewalk, lifting heavy items, moving chairs etc.) * Ensuring equipment and lights are switched off, and premises are locked after hours. * Collaborating with contract cleaning services. Qualifications: * Prior experience working with cleaning equipment and supplies is an asset * Prior experience handling basic maintenance repairs is an asset * As a condition of employment, employees are required upon hire to sign a Drug-Free Workplace Agreement, a Conflict of Interest Agreement, and Confidentiality and Invention Agreement.
