Eligibility Note: To qualify for a student (Co-op/Internship) opportunity, students must be enrolled in their academic studies at a post-secondary institution (university/college) and must be returning to school after completion of their work term with QuadReal. Based in Vancouver, the Co-op/Intern, Investment Accounting – Real Estate Debt will report to the Senior Manager, Investment Accounting – Real Estate Debt and assist in the timely, complete, and accurate accounting and financial reporting of the mortgage investments. They will also work closely with the Real Estate Operations, Corporate Accounting, and Portfolio Reporting groups to ensure investment transactions are accounted for in accordance with supporting documentation. Additionally, responsibilities will include the period-end closing and reporting processes are completed in a timely and accurate manner. Giving back to the community with your peers and team members through volunteering events Opportunities to build long-lasting industry and professional relationships What You Will Experience: Record and ensure completeness and accuracy of daily investment transactions and activities Perform daily Net Asset Value reasonability check Prepare weekly cash report and bank reconciliations Prepare expense and accrual files for monthly and quarterly fee transactions Prepare monthly subledger and general ledger reconciliations and working papers Reconcile shares, holdings and transactions for pooled funds and segregated holdings at each month end Perform valuation and FX roll-up entries for pooled funds and stopper entities Complete monthly and quarterly management reporting in a timely and accurate manner Adhere to internal controls and procedures to ensure all aspects of accounting and reporting meet established policies Respond to and support inquiries from cross functional departments, clients and auditors Assist with financial statements preparation in accordance with policies and established standards Perform other duties as assigned What You Will Bring: Currently enrolled in an academic program preferably in Real Estate, Finance, Mathematics/Statistic or Economics. Strong quantitative and analytical skills; detail-oriented and proficient in building and handling complicated data sets Excellent communication and presentation skills; demonstrate an ability to effectively communicate and present results that articulate key themes and messages Advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Word; knowledge of Argus Enterprise a plus. Previous experience working within a real estate company (asset management or development), real estate brokerage or advisory firm, appraisal firm, or real estate lender is desirable.
