Mainframe Data Migration Specialist

We are seeking a Mainframe Data Migration Specialist to provide technical expertise in legacy mainframe environments and support enterprise data migration initiatives. The successful candidate will leverage deep knowledge of DB2, PL/I, JCL, and batch processing to analyze legacy systems, define data extraction strategies, and facilitate the migration of data to modern target platforms. About the Role This role will work closely with solution architects, database developers, business analysts, and application teams to ensure legacy data is accurately interpreted, mapped, transformed, and migrated while maintaining data integrity and business continuity. Responsibilities Provide technical expertise in legacy mainframe environments. Support enterprise data migration initiatives. Analyze legacy systems and define data extraction strategies. Facilitate the migration of data to modern target platforms. Work closely with solution architects, database developers, business analysts, and application teams. Ensure legacy data is accurately interpreted, mapped, transformed, and migrated. Maintain data integrity and business continuity. Qualifications 7+ years of experience working with IBM mainframe environments. Strong hands-on experience with DB2, PL/I, JCL, and mainframe batch processing. Experience supporting enterprise data migration or application modernization initiatives. Strong understanding of legacy data structures, file formats, and relational database concepts. Experience defining data extraction strategies and migration sequencing. Experience performing data mapping, transformation, and reconciliation activities. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex legacy systems. Required Skills Strong hands-on experience with DB2, PL/I, JCL, and mainframe batch processing. Experience supporting enterprise data migration or application modernization initiatives. Strong understanding of legacy data structures, file formats, and relational database concepts. Familiarity with SQL and relational database development. Contract Duration: 6 months (possibility of extension) Location: Remote (PST Time zone hours)
