We are looking for a hands-on, organized Tool Crib Attendant to step into a brand-new role at a busy metal manufacturing plant. If you like working with tools, taking charge of a space, and turning chaos into order, this is your project. This is a dedicated 6-month contract with a strong chance of turning into a full-time, permanent position. Pay is $27.00 to $30.00 per hour, working mainly daytime hours from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday (with a 30-minute lunch), plus occasional overtime during the week or on Saturdays when needed. Advantages This is an opportunity to build a tool system from the ground up and put your personal stamp on the facility. While the shop floor is unionized, this maintenance support role is non-union with full autonomy. Once transitioned to permanent, you gain access to comprehensive company benefits. You will work in a safety-first, COR-certified environment where input is valued and the team is ready to support your setup. Responsibilities Take ownership of organizing a tool room holding over 8,000 parts, tools, and valves. Clean, refurbish, and prep old tools, cabinets, and equipment both inside the shop and outside in yard storage. Enter inventory into the computer system and build a clear, simple storage layout so trades can find what they need fast. Track stock levels, draft reorder lists, and occasionally reach out to suppliers directly to confirm part details. Lift, move, and organize heavy mechanical parts, valves, and hardware up to 50 lbs. Keep safety top-of-mind every day in an active metal fabrication plant. Qualifications Must have hands-on experience working around industrial tools, mechanical parts, or metal manufacturing (this is a working plant environment, not a clean warehouse). Strong organizational skills with the drive to work independently without someone looking over your shoulder. Comfortable using computers for basic data entry, tracking inventory, and reading/writing in English. Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working on your feet, both indoors and outdoors. Must provide your own 6-inch steel-toed boots and natural fiber clothing (vest, hard hat, safety glasses, and hearing protection provided). Flexibility to work mostly day shifts, with openness to occasional overtime or rotating shift needs down the road.
