Role Overview This role exists to bridge the gap between our client's current legacy data architecture and an innovative, AI-driven future state. As a highly hands-on IT Manager of Data & Analytics, you will take ownership of the data landscape, leading a small team while remaining deeply involved in the day-to-day technical execution. In your first 6-12 months, your immediate impact will involve assessing the current data warehouse and integrations to develop a current-state picture, and then successfully designing a forward-looking roadmap that seamlessly incorporates Microsoft Fabric and AI into the organization's overarching strategy. Main Responsibilities Design and build scalable data pipelines utilizing modern technologies like Apache Spark and Microsoft Fabric to process large volumes of structured and unstructured data. Map and analyze the current technology stack, balancing the maintenance of legacy systems with the design of a robust future-state cloud architecture. Integrate data from various internal and external sources to guarantee accuracy, consistency, and reliability throughout the entire data lifecycle. Optimize ETL/ELT processes continuously to improve overall performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency while identifying and resolving system bottlenecks. Collaborate directly with cross-functional IT teams, business stakeholders, and data scientists to gather requirements and deliver high-quality data solutions supporting the Canadian business. Champion strong data governance practices, ensuring data cataloging, lineage, security, and strict adherence to corporate compliance policies. Must-have required skills and experience Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in data engineering or data architecture. Note: If you do not have prior management experience and are looking to step into this leadership role, you must have 8 to 10 years of deep technical experience (e.g., as a Data Analyst or Data Warehouse Architect). Hands-on, proven experience specifically using Microsoft Fabric and AI tools. Demonstrated experience building reliable data solutions with Apache Spark. Strong technical coding skills in SQL, Python, and/or Scala. Solid background in SQL Server, including database development, table creation, indexing, and performance optimization. Nice-to-have skills Strong background in data governance and data management initiatives. Experience creating data structures, building dashboards, and supporting Power BI reporting needs. Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure. Experience working with Visual Studio and SSIS (package development, deployment, scheduling) to support legacy system integration. Exposure to modern methodologies such as real-time data processing, DevOps, CI/CD, automation, and streaming platforms. A background in consulting, working with multiple clients and environments. Logistics & Compensation Location/Work Mode: 5 days Onsite in Mississauga, ON, Canada. Employment Type: Full-time. Compensation: $105,500 to $120,000 base salary + 12% Variable Compensation (VC) bonus.
