Azure Database Engineer / Senior Data Engineer Halifax, Canada (Hybrid) Experience: 8+ Years Job Summary Azure Database Engineer / Senior Data Engineer with 8+ years of experience in designing, developing, and managing enterprise-scale data platforms. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Azure Database services, PostgreSQL, data engineering frameworks, backend API development, and modern cloud-based data architectures. The candidate will be responsible for building scalable data solutions, developing reliable data pipelines, ensuring data quality, and supporting backend services for datadriven applications. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and optimize database solutions using Azure Database services and PostgreSQL. • Build and maintain scalable data pipelines and data processing workflows. • Develop data transformation frameworks using dbt and orchestration workflows using Dagster. • Implement and maintain Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers). • Develop backend services using FastAPI and build scalable REST APIs. • Design and implement asynchronous API endpoints for high-performance applications. • Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, and data validation. • Ensure data quality, governance, reliability, and availability across enterprise data products. • Collaborate with data scientists, application developers, and business stakeholders. • Support cloud-based data solutions and follow best practices for security and scalability. • Participate in Agile ceremonies, architecture discussions, and technical reviews.
