Senior Interior Designer - Interior Architecture & Technical Design Position Summary Red Theory is seeking an experienced Senior Interior Designer / Interior Architectural Designer to join our design team. We are looking for a highly capable designer who combines strong interior design sensibility with interior architecture, custom millwork, construction knowledge and technical detailing experience. This is not primarily an FF&E or decorating position, nor is it simply a CAD drafting role. Our ideal candidate understands both how a space should look and feel and how it will actually be built. The successful candidate will take approved design concepts and independently develop them into coordinated, detailed and buildable interior design packages while working with our internal team, contractors, millworkers, consultants and specialty trades. Key Responsibilities Develop approved concepts through design development and construction documentation Produce detailed floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, interior elevations, sections and construction details Design and detail custom millwork, architectural features, ceilings, lighting coves and specialty interior conditions Translate renderings and design concepts into technically resolved, buildable solutions Coordinate materials, lighting, millwork, technology, acoustics and architectural elements Review drawings and details for constructability and design intent Coordinate with contractors, millworkers, fabricators, consultants and suppliers Identify technical and coordination issues and proactively develop solutions Review shop drawings and fabrication information Contribute to the development of internal CAD standards, construction details and reusable design libraries Independently advance projects between defined design and technical review milestones Qualifications Approximately 7-12+ years of relevant professional experience in North America, or equivalent demonstrated senior-level capability Degree or diploma in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, Architectural Technology or a related discipline Strong portfolio demonstrating both high-quality interior design and technical construction documentation Advanced AutoCAD skills Strong knowledge of interior construction methods and materials Significant experience with custom architectural millwork and detailing Experience producing detailed interior architectural drawing packages Strong understanding of plans, elevations, sections and construction details Ability to understand and coordinate three-dimensional design information Experience working directly with contractors, millworkers, fabricators and consultants Strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently while collaborating within a design team Preferred Experience Experience in one or more of the following would be particularly valuable: High-end residential interiors Luxury residential design Custom homes Interior architecture Architectural millwork Custom fabrication Specialty lighting integration Acoustic or specialty interior environments 3ds Max, SketchUp, Revit, Enscape, V-Ray, Corona or similar visualization software Portfolio Requirements Applicants should submit a portfolio demonstrating both design and technical capability, including examples of: Completed interior projects Interior architectural design Construction drawing packages Interior elevations and sections Custom millwork drawings Construction or fabrication details Renderings and/or completed project photography
