About the Role: We are looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer (SDE3) to join the Customer Data Platform team within the Identity & Trust organization. This team builds and operates the systems that manage customer data at scale. Our platform runs on AWS and supports high-throughput, high-availability services that are critical to Remitly's products and regulatory obligations. As an SDE3, you will lead the design and delivery of cohesive features and product functionality owned by the team. You will operate independently in application design, code refactoring, and system improvements. You will solve complex problems involving multiple constraints and trade-offs, and drive resolution across related teams when needed. You will work on complex projects leading a team of engineers to help deliver desired objectives. You Will: Lead the design and implementation of scalable backend services and APIs. Break down complex features into components that can be delivered in parallel. Drive team-level projects from technical design through production readiness. Guide application design decisions and promote long-term maintainability. Proactively identify and mitigate technical debt and operational risks. Improve system scalability, reliability, and performance. Provide strong code and design reviews and mentor SDE peers. Partner with stakeholders to clarify requirements, technical risks, and delivery plans. You Have: 6+ years of professional software development experience. Experience using AI throughout the software development lifecycle. Expertise in at least one backend language such as Java, Go, or Python. Experience designing secure, scalable, and performant distributed systems. Ability to engage with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical requirements. Experience leading technical design for team-level initiatives. Experience operating and improving production systems in a cloud environment such as AWS. Experience with relational and non-relational databases, with an understanding of data modeling trade-offs at scale. Experience growing and mentoring junior engineers. Strong communication skills with ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences Nice-to-have: Experience with DynamoDB or large-scale NoSQL data stores. Experience designing and building multi-tenant platform services or shared infrastructure that support diverse customer workloads at scale. Experience leading complex initiatives involving multiple services or teams. Strong understanding of observability, operational excellence, and performance optimization. Compensation Details. The starting base salary range for this position is $152,000-$190,000. In Canada, Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan.
