Job summary
We are seeking a results-driven Controller to lead all financial operations at our Toronto facility. This role is a key business partner to plant leadership, responsible for cost control, financial reporting, and driving operational efficiency in a fast-paced, job-based manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate brings strong cost accounting expertise, experience in manufacturing (preferably printing or packaging), and the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights. Responsibilities: Financial Management & Reporting * Lead monthly close, financial reporting, and variance analysis * Prepare and analyze plant-level financial statements * Develop annual budgets and rolling forecasts * Monitor KPIs and provide insights to improve plant performance Cost Accounting & Inventory Control * Maintain and improve standard costing systems * Analyze variances (material, labor, overhead) and recommend corrective actions * Oversee inventory valuation, cycle counts, and physical inventory processes * Ensure accurate job costing for print runs and production orders Operations Partnership * Partner with Plant Manager and production teams to drive cost reductions and efficiency * Support pricing decisions through margin and profitability analysis * Monitor and report on scrap, waste, and production efficiency * Participate in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives Compliance & Controls * Ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards (ASPE/IFRS) * Maintain strong internal controls and support audits * Enforce company financial policies and procedures Leadership * Supervise and develop plant accounting staff * Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement Other duties as assigned. Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business related field * CPA preferred * 5-10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience * Minimum 3 years in a manufacturing environment * Packaging, printing, paper, or converting industries preferred * Experience with modern ERP systems * Advanced Excel skills, data analysis tools * Knowledge of Canadian accounting standards (ASPE or IFRS) Pay Range: 90,000 - 120,000 CAD

Requirements
