Job summary
Nature & Scope In this role, you will be responsible for Makeready/Washup, Operating and maintaining flexographic printing presses to produce high-quality labels and related products to the specifications on the Job Ticket. This position plays a key role in ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and consistency throughout the production process while adhering to all standard operating procedures and Health Safety Policies. Major Responsibilities • Look at Printflow Web Schedule for job that is scheduled to run • Reads and understands the Job Ticket before starting. • Verify all components for the Job are at press before starting Makeready process. IE: Specification Folder with Art, Plates, Die(s), Material(s), Silkscreen(s), Inks and Coatings….etc • Log into Autocount • Verify that die is good working condition before continuing with Makeready • Sets up Job according to Job ticket IE: Anilox, plates in sequence, die • Starts press, adjusting speed and alignment of stock to the print cylinder(s) • Engages print cylinders; adjusts printing impression as necessary, places print cylinders head-to-head and runs down approval strip. • Do quality checks from web of printed roll, inspects for defects such as print to print register, print to die register, missing/skipping impression, die stain test, and as specified on Checklist • Measure and verify all colours are within Delta on Spectrodensitometer or as specified on Job Ticket • Verify that coatings or lamination are correct and are adhering to substrate • Have job signed off by Quality or Production Supervisor on New Jobs or as specified on job ticket • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance as required to keep equipment in optimal condition. Report any maintenance issues to Supervisor and Maintenance team through “FiXX” program • Keeps work areas clear and organized; maintains housekeeping standards (5 S) • Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and quality personnel to ensure production goals and customer expectations are met. Qualifications • High school diploma, University/College or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience • A minimum of one (1) year of flexographic printing press experience • Understanding of Silkscreen, Hot Stamp, Cold Foil, Colour, Ink, PS materials and use of Spectrodenistometer’s an asset • Mechanically inclined an asset • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals • Must be able to read and interpret ruler, scales and other measurement devices. • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and frequently is required to walk • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without mechanical assistance • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
