Location: Ottawa Salary: $75,000 - $90,000 The compensation range disclosed represents an estimate of base salary and does not include discretionary bonuses or any overtime pay. Key Responsibilities Duties include, but are not limited : Technical * Foster technical excellence and innovation within RJC. * Design and manage structural systems for projects, coordinating through all phases as needed. * Delegate and/or supervise construction review and coordinate with field staff. * Seek further structural technical development through courses, training, and diversifying experiences. * Work towards becoming an internal/external subject matter expert by taking additional training/courses, working on that aspect of projects, or learning from other experts in that area. Business Acumen * Maintain and foster client relationships, ensuring satisfaction of existing clients and the development of new and emerging relationships. Anticipate client’s needs. * Organize projects and develop work plans to deliver superior service to clients, anticipating, identifying, and responding to changing client wants and needs. * Contribute to setting financial goals for the team, managing production costs, and participating in financial planning to ensure long-term growth and sustainability in alignment with RJC’s organizational strategies. * Apply business principles to meet team goals, achieve financial stability, and contribute to organizational growth. * Produce market-leading business proposals, negotiate competitive and realistic fees, and clearly demonstrate to clients that their needs are met. * Monitor and control job costs, initiate timely invoicing, and resolve any fee and payment disputes quickly and effectively. * Stay informed about industry trends, including typical fees and service expectations by regularly discussing benchmarks and best practices within the organization. * Pursue development courses and further education in business management to enhance skills and support team and organizational success. Development * Support, coach and mentor team members to develop their skills and achieve their potential. Understand the needs of the team and junior staff. * Share technical knowledge and answers questions in an encouraging manner. * Identify opportunities to expose junior employees to clients. * Actively works at building relationships to develop a network of internal and external contacts. * Identify and discover meaningful ways to recognize junior team members and provide constructive feedback. Leadership * Act as a coach for junior team members, dedicating time to their development and fostering their growth. * Hold regular meetings with the team to establish project goals, priorities, and manage the Project Management Plan (or similar work plans) for client projects. * Address priorities and resource needs with the Group Leader, ensuring project success and maintaining regular communication on client-related issues. * Provide clear linkages between current projects, RJC’s long-term goals, and client satisfaction to the business. * Understand and improve organizational standards, policies, and practices to achieve results; solicit and value input from others, leveraging expertise to form specific decisions or plans. Undertake external leadership development courses. PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION * Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. * Master's Degree in Engineering is considered an asset. CERTIFICATIONS & LICENCES * Registered or eligible to register as a P.Eng with PEO. * Must be able to fulfill the requirements to obtain Reliability level security clearance. EXPERIENCE * 4-10 years of experience in structural engineering * Strong knowledge of applicable building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
