The Concrete Batch Plant Operator safely and efficiently produces ready-mix concrete to meet RM Mobile’s quality standards and customer specifications. The role reads specification sheets, operates plant controls to batch and load mixer trucks, performs quality control testing such as air and slump, and monitors equipment and raw material inventories. The ideal candidate is a safety-conscious team player with prior batching experience and strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Responsibilities Read specification sheets to determine sizes of aggregates and proportions of cement and water required for batch of concrete. Manage controls to heat, weight, aggregate mix, cement, and water to produce concrete that conforms to processing specifications. Receive and inspect raw materials and monitor inventories at the plant. Control the flow and volume of material into mixer trucks. Ensure all products meet 100% total quality requirements and take samples and test as necessary. Quality control testing on concrete as required including testing for air, slump, etc. and adding materials as required. Observe gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure machinery is working properly . Attend meetings and wear PPE while on site, etc. Participate in Company Safety program and initiatives. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications 1-2 year’s prior experience batching within a concrete plant. Valid class 5 license and clean drivers abstract. Experience working with aggregate materials and quality control testing. 1-2 year’s prior experience mobilizing/demobilizing a batch plant is an asset. First aid, WHMIS, and CSTS certifications are an asset. Key Attributes: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Safety conscious mindset. Proven organization and time management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Flexibility when there are competing priorities. Ability to problem solve and apply solutions autonomously. Hours of Work Hours of work will vary based on project requirements, typically 8–12-hour shifts, and can include a combination of day shift, afternoon shift or night shift. Physical Demands Batch Plant Operator must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, sit/ stand for long intervals. Work in general labour positions is required. Applicants will be required to undergo a pre-employment drug and alcohol test as part of the hiring process.
