Full-Time Retail Sales Associate *Roath's Pawn Shop ? Surrey, BC* $20/hour starting wage + bonuses averaging approximately $26/hour total compensation\* Roath's Pawn Shop is one of British Columbia's largest and longest-established pawnshops. We're a family-run business that has been serving the Surrey community for generations. We're looking for a dependable, outgoing person to join our team in a permanent, full-time position. The Job This is a busy, customer-facing retail position where you'll help people buy, sell and borrow against a wide variety of merchandise. *No pawnshop or jewellery knowledge is required ? we provide hands-on training.* Your day-to-day responsibilities will include: * Helping customers with sales, purchases and pawn loans * Providing friendly, professional customer service * Processing cash, debit and other transactions accurately * Learning how to evaluate a wide variety of merchandise * Answering customer questions in person and over the phone * Entering customer and transaction information into our computer system * Pricing, organizing and displaying merchandise * Keeping the sales floor clean and organized * Following company procedures for cash, merchandise and transactions You'll work with everything from electronics and tools to watches, collectibles, jewellery and other merchandise. You don't need to be an expert ? we'll teach you what you need to know. What We're Looking For Experience is helpful, but *reliability, attitude and willingness to learn matter more to us.* You should: * Be at least 18 years old * Be dependable and punctual * Be comfortable talking with customers * Have good basic computer skills * Be comfortable handling cash * Be organized and pay attention to detail * Be willing to learn * Work well as part of a team * Be comfortable working in a busy retail environment Previous retail, sales, cash-handling or customer-service experience is an asset, but *pawnshop and jewellery experience are not required.* Physical Requirements This position involves frequent standing and walking, occasional use of a ladder, and lifting items weighing up to approximately 40 lbs.
