Job summary

Our client is a privately held holding company with an active portfolio of e-commerce and CPG brands operating across North America — they build and acquire, and the finance function is genuinely at the center of how they make decisions. This isn't a caretaker role inside a large corporate structure. It's a seat at the table in a lean, high-conviction team where the Controller owns the full function and works directly alongside ownership. Responsibilities FP&A & Performance Analysis Lead the annual budgeting process and maintain rolling forecasts and reforecasts as actuals evolve Prepare and deliver budget-to-actual variance analysis with clear, actionable commentary for senior leadership Partner with brand and operations teams to evaluate the ROI of key initiatives — new content creator partnerships, channel investments, product launches — and provide profitability analysis that informs where we lean in and where we pull back Build and maintain portfolio-level reporting that gives leadership a consolidated view of financial performance across all brands M&A Support Maintain rolling normalized EBITDA models for active M&A mandates, currently including two acquisitions at different stages of the pipeline Support due diligence processes including financial data room preparation, request list management, and quality of earnings analysis Support the evaluation and potential sale of portfolio businesses, including preparation of normalized financials and vendor-side due diligence materials Accounting Oversight Own the full accounting function including month-end and year-end close, general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation Lead the implementation, and ongoing management of the company's ERP system Oversee US GAAP compliant financial reporting across the portfolio as applicable by entity Manage external relationships including auditors, tax advisors, banking partners, and legal counsel Own all tax compliance and filings across Canadian and US jurisdictions, coordinating with external advisors as needed Qualifications CPA Hands-on ERP implementation or build-out experience strongly preferred Clear, confident communicator who can translate financial complexity into language that drives decisions Someone who takes ownership, moves without being pushed, and cares about the outcome as much as the process

What you’ll do

Requirements

Candidates must be a CPA with a proven ability to translate complex financial data into actionable business decisions. Experience with ERP implementation and managing tax compliance across US and Canadian jurisdictions is strongly preferred.
