Senior Manager, Accounting Location: Vancouver, BC (hybrid) About the Opportunity Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Accounting to lead a high-performing accounting team and oversee the organization's financial reporting and compliance functions. The successful candidate will have a strong technical accounting foundation gained through public practice, combined with progressive industry experience leading accounting operations within a complex organization. Key Responsibilities Lead, mentor, and develop a large accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Oversee the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting. Prepare and review consolidated financial statements in accordance with IFRS. Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) requirements, including the design, implementation, and monitoring of internal controls. Partner with finance leadership to strengthen internal controls, streamline accounting processes, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Coordinate and manage external audits while serving as the primary liaison with external auditors. Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions and emerging accounting standards. Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives by partnering with cross-functional business leaders. Review and approve account reconciliations, journal entries, and balance sheet analyses. Drive process automation and system enhancements to improve efficiency and reporting capabilities. Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and corporate policies. Qualifications CPA designation required. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. Strong foundation in public practice with experience at a recognized accounting firm. Minimum 2+ years of industry experience in a Senior Manager, Accounting (or comparable leadership) capacity. Demonstrated experience leading and developing a large accounting team. Strong knowledge of IFRS and SOX/internal control frameworks. Experience overseeing complex month-end close, financial reporting, and external audits. Advanced technical accounting knowledge with the ability to research and interpret accounting standards. Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills; experience with reporting and automation tools is considered an asset. Requirements
