JOB SUMMARY: The Field Service Technician I provides service to all contracted Food Safety and Water Treatment accounts through efficient monitoring and application of service programs and procedures. This position performs routine troubleshooting, field installations and repairs of chemical feed and control equipment while maintaining high quality standards. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS * Develop positive relationships by maintaining continuous contact with accounts to promote Company products * Perform scheduled service route in accordance with Division’s Minimum Service Standards * Handle and install various chemical dispensing and application equipment * Handle and apply treatment products in an environmentally safe manner * Perform analyses and evaluation of treatment programs to determine product effectiveness * Assess if product application changes/adjustments are necessary * Routinely troubleshoot for problem/solution identification * Install and repair all chemical feed, dispensing, application and control equipment * Provide service reports on status of existing programs at each account * Perform chemical cleanings and power washings of customer equipment * Make recommendations for improving existing treatment programs * Properly care for and maintain all Company-owned equipment including tools, instruments, safety equipment and vehicles * Comply with company safety standards including safe vehicle operation * Complete all administrative requirements including basic skills/safety training courses * Order inventory and supplies required to perform services * Ensure regular communication with service team members and sales personnel * Other similar and comparable duties as required and assigned EDUCATION/ SPECIAL LICENSES OR CERTIFICATION: * High school or technical school diploma or GED * Associate’s degree in science preferred * Valid driver’s license (clean driving record) EXPERIENCE: * Two years of maintenance, sanitation, water treatment and/or food plant industry related experience preferred * Basic pipe fitting and electrical ability a plus * Working level knowledge of food and water treatment fundamentals, practices, and terminology * Previous maintenance of water treatment, cooling towers, boilers and closed loop systems SKILLS: * Strong mechanical, plumbing, and electrical skills * Competent use of tools & safety equipment * Chemical testing & interpretation * Basic understanding of water treatment, cooling towers, and closed loop systems * Computer skills including e-mail, Word, and Excel * Experience in maintenance and repairs – CIP, plumbing and electrical experience a plus COMPETENCIES: * Effective communication (Verbal, Listening & Written) * Analytical & Problem Solving * Customer/Vendor Relationship and solution focused * Drive for results * Action Oriented * Critical thinking * Planning & Priority Setting * Technical Knowledge * Teamwork * Trust * Administrative skills PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORKING CONDITIONS: * Sit or stand for extended periods of time * Capability to move up to 60 lbs. by hand and 300lbs with use of hand truck * Ability to climb stairs and ladders * Visual acuity necessary to utilize computers and electronic devices * Extra hours and some travel may be required
