Role Description This is a part-time, on-site Cook role based at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 43 in Prince George, BC. The Cook prepares and cooks a variety of menu items for regular service, special events, and functions, ensuring food quality, consistency, and timely service. Daily tasks include planning and organizing food prep, following standardized recipes, maintaining portion and presentation standards, and coordinating with serving staff to support smooth meal service. The Cook is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment, handling food according to health and safety regulations, managing inventory, and assisting with ordering supplies. The role also involves occasional support for menu planning, accommodating dietary needs where possible, and contributing to a positive, cooperative team atmosphere. Qualifications Professional cooking experience in a restaurant, cafeteria, catering, or similar setting, with the ability to prepare meals for groups efficiently and consistently. Knowledge of food safety standards, safe food handling practices, and basic kitchen sanitation procedures; completion of a recognized food safety course is an asset. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively during busy meal periods and special events. Strong teamwork and communication skills, with a respectful, service-oriented approach toward colleagues, members, and guests. Basic skills in inventory management, portion control, and cost awareness to help minimize waste and support budget goals. Physical ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift, carry, and move kitchen equipment and supplies as required. Flexibility to work a part-time schedule, including evenings, weekends, and event-based shifts as needed. Previous experience in community, club, or banquet-style food service is an asset; familiarity with veterans’ organizations or community service environments is beneficial.
