Job Summary & Requirements REGISTERED NURSE, RADIATION ONCOLOGY The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who is responsible and accountable for providing quality patient care within a delivery model in accordance with the philosophy, policies and standards of care of the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH), the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) and all relevant legislation. The Radiation Oncology RN assesses, plans, coordinates and manages care of Radiation Oncology patients and families in conjunction with an interdisciplinary team and according to departmental routines. Education: Current RN certification of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario BCLS Certificate required (must be current within one year) Post diploma Education, Radiation Oncology Nursing (RN) Course required Post diploma Education, Provincial Standardized Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Course required Current CNA Certification in Oncology (CONC) required, or within two years of hire date Post Diploma Education, Physical Assessment Course an asset Post Diploma Education, Palliative Nursing (RN) an asset de Souza Nurse designation an asset CANO/ONS membership preferred Experience: Minimum 3 years' experience in Oncology inpatient or ambulatory care setting required 1-year progressive acute care Nursing experience within the past 6 months an asset Sound knowledge of nursing process and responsibilities of the profession Functions independently within scope of practice Adult teaching experience preferred Central Venous Access Device (CVAD) experience required Wound Care experience an asset Palliative care nursing experience an asset Competencies: Computer literacy in current software applications (Meditech Expanse, ARIA MO/RO) Demonstrates commitment to the professional growth and development of self and others Demonstrates commitment to the concepts of Continuous Quality Improvement and Customer Service Demonstrates interest and commitment to continuing professional development Demonstrates excellent communication and organizational skills Demonstrates critical thinking skills to deal with demanding situations and fluctuating workloads Demonstrates an interest in maintaining a high standard of patient care Other: Ability to learn about, from and with other members of the patient care team to foster a strong Interprofessional model of care Adaptable to the needs of the Program, including working on inpatient unit and outpatient clinics as needed

Requirements

Candidates must be an RN registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario with at least 3 years of oncology experience and specific certifications in chemotherapy and biotherapy. Current BCLS certification and CNA Certification in Oncology are also required.
