Job Summary & Requirements The Respiratory Inpatient unit is a 32 bed unit that cares for patients who have a variety of breathing-related problems, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, pneumonia and complex medical patients. The team consists of physicians, registered nurses, registered practical nurses, patient care assistants, dietitians, pharmacists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, a discharge planner, social worker, a respiratory therapist, a speech language pathologist, a chaplain, unit clerks, and volunteers. Each member has a specific role to play to ensure seamless integration of care and together, they strive to provide exceptional care to each patient and family. As the Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) you are a professional caregiver who is responsible and accountable for providing quality patient care within a delivery model in accordance with the organizational philosophy, policies and standards of care of the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, the College of Nurses (CNO), and all relevant legislation. As a qualified candidate you will have the following job requirements: Registered Practical Nursing Diploma or equivalent education to practice at full scope Completion of recognized Medication Administration Course Current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario Current BCLS Coronary Care 1 (CC1) (obtained within six (6) months of hire Sound knowledge of nursing process and responsibilities of profession Membership in professional association specific to nursing service area Functions independently within scope of practice Computer literacy in current software applications You will be an ideal candidate for this position if you have: Sound problem solving, communications (oral and written), conflict resolution and decision making skills Excellent organizational skills Demonstrated commitment to the professional growth and development of self and others Demonstrated commitment to the concepts of Continuous Quality Improvement and Customer Service Ability to learn about, from and with other members of the patient care team to foster a strong interprofessional model of care

Requirements
Candidates must have a Registered Practical Nursing Diploma, a current CNO registration, and a recognized Medication Administration Course. BCLS and Coronary Care 1 certifications are required or must be obtained within six months of hire.
