Job Summary & Requirements The Allied Health Services (AHS) team, under Professional Practice consists of Regulated Healthcare Professional including: Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, Social Work, Registered Dietitians, as well as unregulated Rehabilitation Assistants. Each discipline is focused on driving evidence informed practice to promote high quality patient and family centered care. The team has a professional practice leader (PPL) model for each regulated allied health discipline which promotes and enhances the interprofessional team. Each regulated discipline has their own PPL with dedicated time to enhance their communities of practice, represent their respective disciplines at committees, create policies & procedures, lead corporate level initiatives and drive best practices in the realm of patient care. We are currently recruiting for a Permanent Part Time acute care focused Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to support our acute care areas, including but not limited to ICU, ED, Birthing Unit, Critical Care Unit and Medicine/Surgery units. Education and Experience: Current registration in good standing with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario -required Current BCLS - required Current ACLS- required Current NRP - required Previous experience in critical care - preferred Responsibilities: Care and management of mechanically ventilated patients Assessment and modification of invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation in accordance with Ventilation/Weaning guidelines Airway management Intubation and extubation Administration of aerosolized medication and/or Meter Dose Inhaler (MDI) Assessment and intervention for patients deemed high risk for respiratory failure Tracheostomy management Home oxygen assessment Arterial punctures and blood withdrawal from arterial lines Arterial line insertion Assisting with bronchoscopies and percutaneous tracheostomy procedure Intra and inter-organization transport of high risk patients Neonatal management, including neonatal resuscitation at high risk deliveries (establishing airway, breathing and circulation), mechanical ventilation, Nasal CPAP, oxygen therapy and assistance of airway management. Requirements
Candidates must be registered in good standing with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario and hold current BCLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications. Previous experience in critical care is preferred.
