Job Title: Maintenance Technician II Location: Ontario, Canada Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent Pay Range: $25.00–$30.00/hour Shift Schedule: Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Current hiring priority) Afternoon Shift: 3:30 PM – 12:00/1:00 AM Job Summary A leading seafood processing and distribution company is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician II to support the maintenance and reliability of production equipment and facility systems. This permanent, direct-hire opportunity is ideal for experienced industrial maintenance professionals who enjoy troubleshooting equipment, performing preventive maintenance, and working in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems to minimize production downtime. Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on production equipment, including conveyors, packaging equipment, pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, and processing machinery. Inspect equipment, identify potential failures, and complete corrective maintenance before breakdowns occur. Maintain facility systems, including industrial doors, forklifts, pallet jacks, plumbing, refrigeration equipment, freezers, and ice machines. Assist with equipment installations, production line upgrades, machine setups, changeovers, and start-ups. Complete maintenance work orders and preventive maintenance records using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, food safety standards, and workplace safety regulations. Collaborate with production teams to minimize downtime and respond to emergency maintenance requests. Support OEM technicians and contractors during equipment installations and major repairs. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance work area. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. 2–5 years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a manufacturing or food processing environment. Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills. Experience with conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems. Ability to independently diagnose and repair production equipment. Comfortable working in refrigerated, wet, and cold environments. Ability to lift 50–75 lbs and perform physically demanding work, including standing, bending, climbing, and kneeling. Willingness to work overtime or flexible hours based on production needs. Preferred Qualifications Technical or trade school certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related field. Experience in food manufacturing, seafood processing, cold storage, or other regulated production environments. Basic electrical troubleshooting experience. Knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment and the ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings. Basic welding and fabrication experience. Experience using CMMS for preventive maintenance and work order management. 442 Industrial Electrician License is an asset but not required.
