Job summary
The Role: Support customers in the metal roll forming industry by providing advanced technical assistance, troubleshooting complex automation control system issues, and delivering both onsite and remote support. This role plays a key part in ensuring reliable system performance, offering comprehensive training to customers and internal teams, and assisting with programming, testing, and commissioning of roll forming equipment. The Controls Field Testing Technician also develops technical documentation, adheres to safety standards while working onsite, and regularly travels to customer locations for installations, repairs, and maintenance. Responsibilities: Provide technical support to customers in the metal roll forming industry. Troubleshoot and diagnose complex issues related to automation control systems and roll forming. Work with customers to resolve technical issues and provide solutions. Provide training to customers on the use of automation control systems and roll forming equipment. As required, provide internal training to Samco staff on the assembly, setup, testing and use of automation control systems and roll forming equipment. As required assist in the programming of automation control systems and the testing and/or commissioning of roll forming equipment. Develop and maintain technical documentation related to automation control systems and roll forming equipment. Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies while performing on-site work, ensuring a safe environment for both yourself and clients. Regularly travel to client sites, requiring overnight stays or extended trips, to perform installations, repairs, and maintenance. Qualifications: Previous experience in field service or a related field. 5 years’ experience with automation control systems and roll forming. Strong technical background with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Education: Electrician, Millwright, Tool and Die, Engineering or Engineering Technologist. Must be able to travel an average of 3 out of 4 weeks, hold a valid passport and be able to travel internationally with no restrictions to travel into the USA. Must have a driver’s license and be able to operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and cranes.

Requirements
Requires 5 years of experience with automation control systems and roll forming, along with a technical background in electricity, millwrighting, or engineering. Must possess a valid passport, driver's license, and the ability to travel internationally up to 75% of the time.
