Job Summary The employee in this classification is responsible to fabricate, assemble, operate, troubleshoot, install, commission, maintain, test and repair equipment, machinery, controls, facilities and infrastructure associated with the specific trade. Key Accountabilities Interpret and implement plans, drawings and specifications related to installation, modification, repair and operation of equipment Analyze and diagnose equipment malfunctions and take corrective action, as required Participate in the design and field modification of apparatus and equipment Inspect, service and operate specialized equipment and tools Requisition and maintain an adequate inventory of parts and supplies Troubleshoot, maintain, test and repair industrial, electrical and control systems and other related devices Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records Arrange for appropriat-e permits and develop and perform switching procedures, as authorized Read, compile and maintain records and drawings associated with the position Adhere to applicable safety and environmental standards, regulations and corporate commitments Participate in continuous educational and professional development, as required Prepare cost estimates, as required Supervise apprentices and other staff, as required Maintain a clean and orderly work area Other related duties, as assigned Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Interprovincial Journeyperson Welding Certificate, or equivalent AND; Hold and maintain valid Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan Welder’s Licence, or equivalent, designated as: Step 1 (97% of base) = Qualification a) below P1-P15F,P34,P4x, F3F4 Pipe/tube O.D. less than 2 7/8" (73 mm) Qualified with a minimum deposited weld metal thickness of 11 mm (.436") with F3, F4 combination 6G position Progression, Uphill Step 2 (98.5% of base) = Qualification a) and b). P1-P15F,P34,P4x, F6F5 Pipe/tube O.D. less than 2 7/8" (73 mm) Qualified with a minimum deposited weld metal thickness of 3.2 mm (.125") for GTAW Qualified with a minimum deposited weld metal thickness of 7.9 mm (.311") for SMAW Progression, Uphill 6G Position Step 3 (100% of base) = Qualification of a), b) and c) P1-P15F,P34,P4x,F4 Performed on Plate Qualified with a minimum deposited weld metal thickness of 9.525mm (0.375") for SMAW Progression, Downhill 3G Position Steps 4 through 11 = one step for each additional qualification required by SaskPower at the work location approved by the hiring manager. Responsible for fabricating, installing, maintaining, and repairing equipment and infrastructure associated with the pressure welding trade. Key duties include diagnosing malfunctions, implementing technical drawings, and adhering to strict safety and environmental standards.

Requires an Interprovincial Journeyperson Welding Certificate and a valid Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan Welder’s Licence. Candidates must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s licence and be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.
