Role Description The Legal Assistant is a full-time, hybrid role based in Toronto, ON, with the opportunity to work from home for part of the schedule. In this position, the Legal Assistant will support lawyers with drafting, formatting, and managing legal documents, including correspondence, agreements, and court forms. Daily tasks include organizing files, maintaining calendars, scheduling meetings, and coordinating communication with clients, courts, and other parties. The role involves managing deadlines, preparing and proofreading materials, and ensuring accurate filing and record-keeping in both digital and physical formats. The Legal Assistant will also assist with basic legal research, billing support, and the use of practice management software to keep matters on track and well-documented. Qualifications Knowledge of Law and foundational understanding of legal procedures relevant to a law firm environment. Proficiency in Legal Document Preparation, including drafting, formatting, and proofreading legal correspondence and forms. Strong Communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders. Experience providing Administrative Assistance in a legal or professional office setting, including file management, scheduling, and record-keeping. Prior experience working as a Legal Assistant or in a similar support role within a law firm or legal department. High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Comfort with legal and office software (e.g., MS Office, document management systems, practice management tools). Diploma or certificate in Legal Assistant, Law Clerk, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered. Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical conduct in handling sensitive client information.
