Mechanical Engineer – Building Systems Location: Toronto, Ontario Work Model: Hybrid Salary: $75,000–$85,000 annually Our client is an established Canadian consulting engineering firm providing integrated building-system design services across a diverse range of commercial, industrial, retail, residential, and mixed-use projects. They are looking for a Mechanical Engineer in the early-to-intermediate stage of their career who is interested in developing broader technical knowledge, gaining meaningful project exposure, and growing within a supportive and collaborative engineering environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with approximately three to five years of consulting engineering experience who is ready to take on greater responsibility while continuing to learn from experienced engineers and project leaders. The Role Working as part of a multidisciplinary project team, the Mechanical Engineer will assist with the design, coordination, documentation, and delivery of mechanical building systems. The position will provide exposure to projects of varying sizes, technical requirements, and stages of development. Responsibilities will include: Supporting the design of HVAC, plumbing, drainage, fire-protection, and other mechanical building systems Performing engineering calculations, equipment selections, and technical evaluations Preparing and reviewing drawings, specifications, schedules, reports, and other project documentation Using AutoCAD and Revit to support mechanical design and interdisciplinary coordination Assisting with energy-efficient and sustainable building-system solutions Coordinating with architects, electrical engineers, contractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders Reviewing shop drawings and responding to requests for information during construction Participating in site visits, field reviews, deficiency inspections, and construction meetings Assisting with feasibility studies, building-condition assessments, and renovation projects Helping ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, client requirements, budgets, and project schedules Managing assigned tasks and smaller project components with increasing independence Developing stronger client-facing, technical, and project-management capabilities over time What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline Approximately three to five years of relevant mechanical consulting or building-systems experience Registered as an Engineer-in-Training in Ontario, eligible for registration, or progressing toward a P.Eng. designation Practical experience with HVAC and other mechanical building systems Familiarity with applicable building codes, standards, and engineering practices Experience with AutoCAD; Revit experience is strongly preferred Ability to prepare clear and accurate technical drawings and documentation Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Clear written and verbal communication skills Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders A collaborative attitude and genuine interest in continued professional development Why Consider This Opportunity?
