Who we need As a French Translation Specialist, you will play an important role in helping Securian Canada connect with employees, clients, and partners in both official languages. More than a translator, you will be a trusted language expert and strategic partner, ensuring our communications are clear, engaging, inclusive, and reflective of our purpose-driven culture. In this role, you will contribute to the continued evolution of our translation function and support the expansion of bilingual communications across the organization. You will create, adapt, and refine content that resonates with diverse audiences, translating primarily from English to French (80%), while also supporting French to English translations (20%) when needed. Working closely with teams across the business, you will bring our messages to life through a variety of materials, including corporate communications, business documentation, marketing content, employee resources, and RFP responses. Your ability to balance linguistic excellence with business context will help ensure every communication is accurate, impactful, and aligned with our brand voice. The base salary range for this position is between $80,000 to $95,000 depending on experience. Details of our additional benefits are outlined below. This job posting is for an existing vacancy. Only one position is available. However, it may be based in multiple locations: Toronto (ON), or Waterloo (ON), or Montreal (QC). What you will do Support French (Canadian) language and translation efforts at Securian Canada. Translate company materials from English to French, including presentations, press releases, social media content, employee communications, newsletters, website content, company policies, etc. Ensure French translation compliance and consistency amongst departments. Coordinate with third-party network of translation and interpretation vendors – consistently evaluating vendor translation quality and ensuring effective resourcing for organizational needs. Review and revise translations done by external vendors or internal resources to ensure consistency with Securian Canada's terminology, style and tone, as well as quality of French language. Adhere to and maintain standardized lexicon, internal terminology bank and style guide, inclusive of product and insurance terminology, to share with external vendors to ensure consistency. Write French RFP responses and other French-first/French-only materials. Track usage metrics on a monthly basis to help analyze volumes and trends. What you will bring Bachelor's degree in translation (Eng-Fr) from a recognized academic institution. Certification from a recognized translators' association (OTTIAQ, ATIO, CTINB). Minimum five years translation and revision experience, preferably in the insurance industry or a related field. Superior organizational skills along with a scrupulous attention to detail. Intellectual curiosity and excellent judgment. Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office software. Strong ability to work both independently and within a team environment. Requirements
