Sedgman Canada Ltd is currently looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our team in Vancouver, B.C. He/she will be responsible for leading and providing technical support on structural engineering projects; this includes conducting structural design, investigation, managing project budgets and schedules, as well as preparing technical reports. The ideal incumbent will be a mentor and coach to a young and enthusiastic team. Sedgman is a consulting engineering company in the mining space and is currently experiencing a rapid expansion of our North American offices; they are positioned for growth, and this role is business critical within the organization. Main Responsibilities: Lead project development of structural and concrete designs ensuring compliance with relevant codes, industry standards. Lead concept studies, including estimating quantities and preliminary designs Perform detailed concrete and steel design, including interaction with Drafters to produce models and documentation in line with QA Compliance Assist with construction enquiries, including safe lifting and erection Interface with other Engineering disciplines, including Electrical, Process and Mechanical Focus on technical innovation and continuous improvement Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers What are we looking for in our future team member? Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering P.Eng. registration with EGBC or eligible to obtain 15+ years of structural engineering experience, with at least 5 in years in a project lead or senior role Strong understanding of steel and concrete design for heavy industrial structures. Demonstrated sound knowledge and experience in design/consultancy/operational environments Previous mining or metals industry experience is highly desired Ability to safely and effectively self-manage time, priorities and activities Well-developed communication and negotiation skills Experience with Canadian building code across the provinces is desirable Must be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship What is in it for you?
