The Role Reporting to the Manager, Software Engineering, the Team Lead, Software Development leads a team of technical professionals who collaborate with researchers and AI scientists to deliver research infrastructure and efficient cloud-based prototypes. The role combines senior full stack expertise with people and project leadership across the end-to-end design, development, and delivery of complex prototypes. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: Lead the end-to-end design, development, and delivery of complex research prototypes in close collaboration with researchers and AI scientists. Own the Labs portal and help ensure customers can access research prototypes. Develop and maintain GCP infrastructure for data and high-performance computing, using Seequent Evo cloud capabilities where appropriate. Provide software design and architectural guidance, evaluate recommendations, and ensure the team follows agreed standards, patterns, and methodologies. Address functional and non-functional requirements, including security, and guide design alternatives and trade-offs. Provide operational direction, allocate work, coach colleagues, and facilitate effective working relationships across the team. Lead medium-scale projects, manage risks and change controls, monitor performance, and align delivery with governance and business priorities. Collaborate with customers and cross-functional engineering teams to improve prototypes and transition successful solutions toward commercial products. To be successful in this role, you should have: A bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or an equivalent qualification. 7+ years of relevant software development experience, including experience as a Senior Software Developer. 1+ years of formal or informal team leadership experience. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices. Deep senior full stack technical expertise combined with people and project leadership capabilities. The ability to work autonomously within a clear accountability framework, plan and monitor work, and escalate complex issues when needed. The ability to influence stakeholders, facilitate cross-functional collaboration, and make decisions that support project success and user needs. Strong communication, creative problem-solving, adaptability, and a commitment to security, privacy, ethical practices, knowledge sharing, innovation, and growth. Requirements
Requires a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or an equivalent qualification, at least seven years of relevant software development experience including senior-level experience, and at least one year of team leadership. Candidates should bring senior full-stack expertise, familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps, and the ability to lead projects, collaborate across teams, communicate effectively, and uphold security and ethical practices.
