Job details
We are seeking a Structures Design Integration Engineer to lead significant airframe work packages and solve complex structural design challenges. In this role, you will drive airframe structural definition across metallic and composite primary and secondary structures—from initial concept through detail design, manufacturing integration, and certification support. You will serve as a cross-functional technical focal point, balancing load paths, weight, producibility, maintainability, and cost. Key Responsibilities Structural Design & Definition: Develop and review 3D CAD models, structural layouts, assembly/installation drawings, and detail drawings for assigned airframe zones. Define metallic and composite structural parts, joint configurations, structural interfaces, fastening strategies, and geometric tolerances (GD&T). Apply rigorous structural design principles to optimize load paths, weight efficiency, manufacturing producibility, and in-service inspection/maintainability. Technical Integration & Cross-Functional Alignment: Coordinate structural definition with stress analysis, materials & processes (M&P), systems installation, aerodynamics, interiors, and manufacturing engineering. Lead spatial interface integration, trade studies, and physical clash resolution across structural and system boundaries. Present design maturity, assumptions, and open items in formal internal and external design reviews. Design Maturity, Compliance & Operations Support: Provide traceable design definitions, drawing release packages, and technical rationales to support structural substantiation and airworthiness certification. Investigate manufacturing non-conformances, supplier issues, and field defects; execute root-cause analysis (RCCA) and implement corrective design actions. Manage engineering change notices (ECNs), perform impact assessments, and maintain strict configuration management within the PLM environment. Work Package Leadership & Mentorship: Lead assigned structural work packages, coordinating deliverables, schedules, and interface requirements across contributors. Formulate and substantiate engineering recommendations for complex structural issues to present to project leadership. Conduct peer reviews of drawings, share design best practices, and coach junior engineers within the discipline. Qualifications & Requirements Education: Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Structural, or a related engineering discipline (or equivalent relevant engineering technology degree/experience). Experience: Typically 5+ years of relevant aerospace engineering experience with a strong emphasis on 3D airframe structural design and integration. Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of aircraft structural configurations, metallic and composite joint mechanics, structural fasteners, GD&T, and aerospace materials/processes. Familiarity with airframe manufacturing methods, structural assembly sequences, inspection criteria, and airworthiness certification fundamentals. Tools & Systems: Proficiency in CATIA V5 (Part Design, Generative Shape Design, Assembly Design) and ENOVIA; experience with Siemens NX and Teamcenter is an asset. Working knowledge of PLM systems, product definition, and engineering change processes. Core Competencies: Clear, concise technical communication and presentation skills. Strong analytical problem-solving skills with a highly collaborative approach across engineering disciplines. Proven ability to prioritize tasks, deliver technical work packages, and provide guidance to team members. Languages: Fluency in English is required; French language skills are considered an asset. SEGULA Technologies is a global engineering group, boosting the competitiveness of all major industrial sectors: automotive, aerospace, energy, rail, naval, life sciences, and telecoms.
