As we continue to grow and modernize our operations, we are looking for an experienced Maintenance Millwright Mechanic to join our team in Scarborough, Ontario. Position Summary The Maintenance Millwright Mechanic plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all production and packaging equipment within our food manufacturing facility. This hands-on role involves performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and equipment installations to minimize downtime and optimize plant performance. The ideal candidate is mechanically skilled, detail-oriented, and experienced in food or packaging environments, with a solid understanding of machinery, electrical systems, and safety standards. Key Responsibilities Perform routine and preventative maintenance on all production, packaging, and material-handling equipment. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Conduct equipment inspections, adjustments, lubrication, and part replacements to ensure optimal performance. Work closely with the Production and QA teams to minimize equipment downtime and ensure safe and sanitary operations. Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to identify and correct equipment issues. Install, align, and commission new machinery, ensuring compliance with safety and food-grade standards. Maintain accurate maintenance logs, service reports, and spare parts inventory. Assist with root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions for recurring equipment failures. Participate in continuous improvement projects focused on equipment reliability and efficiency. Support facility maintenance tasks including utilities, conveyors, air compressors, and plant systems. Follow all health, safety, and food safety protocols (HACCP, GMP, WSIB, Lockout/Tagout, etc.). Collaborate with supervisors, electricians, and other maintenance personnel to ensure coordinated workflow. Qualifications & Skills Licensed Industrial Millwright (433A) or equivalent mechanical trade certification required. Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in a food manufacturing or packaging environment. Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in conveyors, mixers, packaging lines, motors, gearboxes, pumps, and seals. Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical troubleshooting (PLC experience is an asset). Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and equipment specifications. Excellent problem-solving, time management, and communication skills. Experience using CMMS systems for maintenance scheduling and tracking (asset). Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-shift production environment. Commitment to workplace safety, sanitation, and preventive maintenance practices. Working Conditions Full-time, on-site position (day shift; flexibility to support occasional evening or weekend maintenance as needed). Fast-paced food manufacturing environment involving standing, lifting, and mechanical work. PPE and safety training provided.
