Position Overview The incumbent is responsible for the provision and promotion of optimal nutritional care to clients according to professional Standards of Practice through the following responsibilities: Client-Centered Nutrition Care Inter-Professional Collaboration Education and Capacity Building Quality Improvement and Professional Practice Additional Responsibilities Experience Two years of clinical nutrition experience preferred. Specialized training or demonstrated expertise in the applicable practice area preferred. Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate) Bachelor of Science Degree, Human Nutritional Sciences, dietetic or related area from an accredited Canadian university program or the approved equivalent if internationally educated. Graduate of a recognized dietetic internship program or practical training program including Master of Applied (Human) Nutrition programs, which has been accredited by the applicable certifying body required. Certification/Licensure/Registration Must be a Registered Dietitian or Graduate Dietitian with the College of Dietitians of Manitoba. Membership with the Dietitians of Canada (DC) is preferred. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy. Qualifications And Skills Knowledge of professional standards, ethics, and regulatory requirements for area of expertise. Proficient in medical nutrition therapy and evidence-based practice with demonstrated problem solving and critical analysis skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Effective planning and time management skills. Able to work independently in changing environments. Skilled in behavior change strategies with effective counseling skills. Knowledgeable in food and nutrient analysis and computerized documentation systems. Proficient in professional correspondence and clinical documentation. Physical Requirements Ability to perform the essential physical requirements of the position. May be exposed to infectious diseases, blood and bodily fluids, toxic materials, noise, allergens, and physical or emotional stress. May encounter aggressive or distressed clients or visitors. May be required to travel to off-site locations. May be required to occasionally work extended hours. May be required to work a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends. This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment. Requirements
Requires a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutritional Sciences or a related field and completion of an accredited dietetic internship. Candidates must be registered with the College of Dietitians of Manitoba and preferably have two years of clinical experience.
