A leading construction organization is seeking an Environmental Specialist to strengthen environmental compliance, governance, and performance across a diverse portfolio of projects. This is an opportunity for an experienced environmental professional to provide practical technical guidance and support project teams in meeting regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will collaborate with project leadership, site personnel, clients, consultants, and external stakeholders to strengthen environmental processes, promote effective documentation and recordkeeping, and embed sound environmental practices throughout project delivery. The Role As Environmental Specialist, you will provide environmental support across a range of projects and operational functions. You will serve as a trusted technical advisor, helping teams interpret environmental requirements and translate them into practical procedures, tools, and controls that can be consistently applied in the field. This role combines environmental compliance expertise with management-system development, training, audit support, and continuous improvement. You will work with project and corporate teams to identify environmental risks, improve performance, and ensure that programs remain practical, effective, and aligned with applicable requirements. Key Responsibilities Provide technical environmental guidance to project teams on compliance requirements, environmental controls, documentation, and recordkeeping. Develop and maintain environmental programs, management plans, procedures, compliance tools, templates, and guidance materials. Support the implementation and ongoing improvement of environmental management systems across projects and operations. Conduct or support environmental audits, inspections, and program reviews to evaluate compliance, identify gaps, and recommend corrective actions. Identify environmental risks and improvement opportunities, developing practical solutions that support compliance and operational effectiveness. Develop and deliver training, awareness sessions, and educational materials for project personnel and internal stakeholders. Qualifications Post-secondary education in Environmental Science or a related discipline. At least 5 years of progressive experience in the environmental field. Working knowledge of environmental legislation, permitting processes, and environmental controls. Strong technical writing and documentation-review skills. Confident presentation and training skills, with the ability to communicate environmental expectations effectively to both field-based and office-based audiences.
