Position Summary: Initiate and track the acquisition of medical records, obtaining imaging, lab results, and other diagnostics, and securing required prior authorizations to prevent delays in care. Patient navigators work closely with new and established oncology patients to communicate and coordinate the status of procedures, imaging, and additional appointments, ensuring they are fully prepared for their first consultation with the oncologist. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: New Patient Intake Coordination: Initiate health record acquisition and follow through. Initiate and track the collection of medical records for new and established patients to ensure providers have complete clinical information. Obtains needed imaging, lab results, and other medical records for both new and existing patients to support ongoing treatment and evaluation. New Oncology Patients: Patient navigators will communicate/coordinate with patients on status of procedures/imaging/additional appointments prior to first consultation/visit with Oncologist. Engage with new and existing oncology patients to coordinate and communicate the status of required procedures, imaging, and additional appointments prior to their first consultation with the oncologist. Obtaining Imaging/Lab/Diagnostic Modalities/Procedural Prior Authorizations. Secure prior authorizations for imaging, labs, diagnostic testing, and procedures to avoid delays in care. Imaging/Lab/ Medical Record Acquisition (New and Existing Patients) Required Qualifications: 2 years of experience in an outpatient healthcare setting as a medical assistant, intake coordinator, or billing/auth specialist Familiar with CPT and procedure codes; outpatient billing practices for both infusion and outpatient clinic Familiar with inpatient billing codes for oncology services provided Medical Assistant or Medical Records/Billing experience required Education and Training: High school diploma/GED Work Shift Details: Days, Monday-Friday No weekends or holidays 8 hours shifts Department: CANCER CENTER NL Benefits for You At Silver Cross Hospital, we care about your health and well-being and that is why we work hard to provide quality and affordable benefit options for you and your eligible family members.
