Under the direction of the Supervisor of Mechanical and Controls Systems, the HVAC Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, installation, and operation of commercial HVAC systems including mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment in accordance with board policies and procedures, relevant regulations, codes and best practices in a safe and effective manner. Required Skills And Qualifications ❖ Secondary School Graduation Diploma. ❖ Valid G1 Gas License, preference given to multi-license ❖ Minimum 5 years and 5000 hours of previous related and/or on the job experience ❖ Strong customer service and effective interpersonal skills ❖ Proven ability to work both independently and co-operatively as a member of an interdepartmental team ❖ Proven time management, scheduling, job planning and organizational skills ❖ 313A or313D Refrigeration/Air Conditioning License is an Asset ❖ Ability to prepare documentation for standard maintenance practices ❖ Ability to share knowledge with colleagues for awareness building and knowledge cross- pollination ❖ Ability to troubleshoot equipment and processes for failure finding and restoring services ❖ Advises the Facilities Services management team of opportunities for continuous improvement ❖ Must be comfortable using technology; the position is required to use technology including the Board’s Work Management System (eBASE) with mobile technology ❖ Working at Heights/Elevated Platform certification, including the ability to set up and use personnel life equipment ❖ Standard First Aid Certification, CPR Certification ❖ Valid Ontario Drivers License, Class G with a clean abstract. Requirements
Candidates must have a secondary school diploma, a valid G1 Gas License, and at least 5 years of related experience. A 313A or 313D Refrigeration/Air Conditioning License and a valid Ontario Driver's License are also required or preferred.
